Wood Desyroying Insects

Pest Control and Extermination of Carpenter Ants, Termites, Carpenter Bees, Powderpost Beetles, and other wood destroying insects.

Wood Destroying Insects Can Cause $1,000s Of Dollars In Damage To Your Home

Central, VA, is home to more wood-destroying insects (WDI) and wood-destroying organisms (WDO) than just termites. Carpenter Ants, Powderpost Beetles, and Carpenter Bees could damage your home’s structure long before you realize you have a problem.

Carpenter Ants live directly in your wood, but they do not eat it. They build long interconnected networks of tunnels that connect the different places they live. They love rotten wood, which means parts of your home that have been rotten are especially vulnerable.

Adult female Powderpost Beetles tunnel into your wood to lay eggs under the surface. The larvae live in your wood for 1 – 5 years and then hatch. Isn’t that disgusting? Once they are fully grown they dig additional tunnels to get out of the wood and then the process begins again.

Carpenter Bees burrow holes in wood to build their nests. Like Carpenter Ants they do not eat the wood, but the tunnels they build can still be damaging. Carpenter Bees like the wood outside in your deck, eaves, and facia, and attempting to remove them can result in stings.

Here at Greenshield Home & Pest Solutions, don’t believe the home and business owners of Virginia should have to worry about wood-destroying insects (WDI), and that’s why we offer same-day free inspections.
